The Housing Bank Participates in the Sponsorship of the Annual Arab Banking Conference 2014-Union of Arab Banks
The Housing Bank participates in the sponsorship of the Annual Banking Conference 2014, organized by the Union of Arab Banks (UAB) entitled "Strategies for the Development of Arab Economics". The Conference was held this year in Jordan under the patronage of H.E. the Prime Minister Dr. Abdalla Ensour, who was represented by H.E. Dr. Ziad Fariz, Governor of the Central Bank. Representatives of many Jordanian, Arab and international banking institutions also participated in the Conference.
The Conference took place in 16-17 April 2014 in Amman-Jordan Le Meridien Hotel, in conjunction with Central Bank of Jordan, World Union of Arab Bankers, and Association of Banks in Jordan. A number of working papers was discussed on economic legislation and reforms proposed for the development of Arab economics, and some of these papers addressed the discussion of small and medium enterprises (SME) as a key factor for the required economic development.
Michel Marto, Chairman of the Housing, welcomed the participants in a speech at the luncheon held by the Bank in honour of the guests. He highlighted the role of the UAB on their initiatives and continued efforts in the service of the Arab banking sector to enable it to keep abreast of developments in the global banking industry. Marto praised the themes and ideas addressed in the Conference, which is expected to lead to help pursue and follow the ways that contribute to reach to the "the desired economic development", which it is hoped that political stability and security in the region will be its basic incubator, stressing at the same time that the speakers at the Conference are able to diagnose the challenges facing the economies of the countries in the region and means of action in order to confront them. Marto was pleased to honour Dr. Jassim Al Mannai and Ibrahim Dabdoub for their outstanding achievements that put them in the position of entitlement, hoping to achieve the objectives of the Conference because of its positive impact on the current economic conditions in the region.
The sponsorship of the Housing Bank for this Conference arises from its keenness to support meaningful economic conferences, and its permanent and continuing efforts to strengthen the relations of cooperation between the Bank and various economic sectors in Jordan and the region, in order to serve and support the national economy and upgrade it to better levels.
